Last week we saw new photos of actor Matt Damon with a totally shaved bald head on the set of his new film Elysium. Today we learn that Matt was in attendance at an outdoor event in Washington DC and, due to the blistering sunlight beating down, he had to slather sunblock all over his pale white head. It is very easy to get sunburnt in the midday sun so it was very, very smart of Matt so coat his head with as much sunblock as possible.

It looks like Matt Damon did not want to be Good Will Burning when he attended a political rally today. The movie star applied plenty of suntan lotion to his bald head ahead of the Save Our Schools event in Washington DC. Matt cares about the issue deeply as he is a father of four young children, one a stepchild from his wife Luciana’s previous relationship. The handsome actor is currently sporting the close-shaved look for his role in upcoming science fiction action film Elysium. Its plot is being kept strictly secret, but it is a sequel to writer-director Neill Blomkamp’s 2009 hit District 9, and will also star Jodie Foster. And he made sure his pasty head would not get baked in the summer sunshine by applying layers of suntan spray to his shiny dome.

I’m lucky that my Mexicanness gives me some bit of protection from sunburn because I hate wearing any lotions, creams, etc. I would HATE to have to spread my head daily with sunblock. Ugh. But poor, whitey Matt is gonna have to ensure he doesn’t burn his head off. At least he’s being smart about it. Good for him

As I mentioned earlier, a group of friends and I got together last night to enjoy a fun dinner/movie night out and the film du jour (or, nuit, actually) was Crazy, Stupid Love. I have been looking forward to seeing this film for weeks and since I was out of town last weekend, I didn’t get a chance to see it until this weekend. The reviews for the film have been very good, which was encouraging. Alls I knew is that Ryan Gosling had a few shirtless scenes so … I was sold. I am happy to report that the film is fun, funny and deffo a great time.

Firstly, I have to say, I love Emma Stone. She is a really fantastic actress … like, for real. She is such a pleasure to watch in any movie that just love her more and more with every film she does. Secondly, the ensemble cast in this film work really well together. I don’t think there was a weak link at all. The story was really cute … nothing super inventive or novel but just, really well thought out. I did not foresee how the movie was going to end … so that was fun. If I have one complaint, it’s that a whole bunch of stuff happens all at once near the end of the film and everything gets ridiculously complicated at the same time. For me, it was an abrupt slap in the face that I really didn’t like. It felt a little to “jump the shark”y to me but the overall movie is so fun that I can forgive the messy way things get complicated at the end. Ryan Gosling plays a terribly charming character so he is a huge draw … and Steve Carell, who normally bugs me, is really REALLY good in this film. Everyone in our group loved the film … so you and your friends might too. I will say that this isn’t a movie that you HAVE to see on the big screen … but it’s deffo worth your time.

Last night David and I met up with a group of friends for a fun dinner/movie hangout session. Emma brought Melanie, Darion brought Alex and Matt met us at the Arclight for a showing of Crazy, Stupid Love. Before we hit the movies, we met at La Boheme for a fun dinner in West Hollywood, CA. It had been some time since we got to hang out with Alex (who’s been bizzy world traveling for work) so it was really fun catching up with him. Everyone of us loved the movie (my review is forthcoming) so, all in all, it was a perfect Saturday night with friends.

After the movie, we chilled for a bit in the wine bar upstairs and really made a night of it. Darion was giving Instagram tutorials so it was an educational night as well.

Tonight, I am heading out to Key Club on the Sunset Strip to see Filter live in concert. It’s been YEARS since I’ve seen Filter live so I’m excited. Rock on! Happy Sunday!!

Miley Cyrus seems to have the same love for multiple tattoos that David Beckham has because today we get to see the young girl’s 7th tattoo masterpiece. Apparently, Miley felt the need to show her support for equality (of some sort) by getting a equal sign tattooed on her finger (and then share a photo of it on her official Twitter profile). I’m not sure if this small moniker of support will actually do anything to turn the tide of inequality in the world but … it’s a nice gesture, I suppose. Wanna see her new tat? Check it out below.

Most people who promote a cause might usually do some volunteer work or perhaps donate some money. But singer Miley Cyrus has taken one step further in showing her support for gay rights, by getting a new tattoo. The 18-year-old got inked for the SEVENTH time, showing off the new design on her finger via her Twitter account. The singer got the ‘equal’ symbol permanently etched on her middle finger, writing on Twitter: ‘All LOVE is equal’. It appears that Miley is referring to The All Love is Equal campaign launched by the Gay & Lesbian Rights Lobby. Miley has been very vocal on gay rights in the past … Her latest inking joins Miley’s already vast collection of symbols and words. Just over two months ago she picked up an anchor design whilst on her Gypsy Hearts tour in Brazil. The singer chose the most permanent of mementos having the design done before leaving the country. Miley posed for photographs with Brazilian tattoo artist Fabio Sattori after he created a new etching on her right wrist … Her first tattoo – the words ‘Just Breathe’ on the left side of her chest – caused controversy as Miley was under age when it was done … Other inkings soon followed. Miley has an outline of a love heart on her pinky and a cross on the inside of her ring finger, both on her right hand. The Party In The USA singer also has the word ‘LOVE’ on the inside of her ear, as well as her largest – a dream catcher on the right side of her ribcage, which she acquired earlier this year.

While tattoos are a very personal thing for the individual and I would never presume to tell someone what to get OR what not to get, I PERSONALLY am not a fan of hand or finger tattoos. I think wrist tattoos can be very cool, if done right … but the hands and fingers just never look good to me. The same goes for face tattoos. BUT, if Miley is happy inking up her digits, more power to her. If her equality tattoo can change one mind and help the spread of equality around the world, then PRAISE JEBUS. Lindsay Lohan, in an apparent attempt to reacclimate herself to the Hollywood lifestyle that got her in trouble in the first place, has started hanging out with the likes of Paris Hilton … for some unknown reason. This weekend the former Hollywood “It” Girls (and Paris‘s wannabe clingy sister Nicky Hilton) made their way to Malibu, CA to do some partying and Lindsay unfortunately took a nasty tumble … in front of a big group of photogs. L. Lo claims she was “blinded” and “pushed” by the paps and that’s why she fell (of course) … but Paris was there to offer a helping hand to help her up again. See folks, that’s was former friends are for.

Time apparently does heal all wounds. Six years ago Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan had a famous falling out. Now you can’t seem to keep the reunited party pals apart and Paris was even there to catch Lindsay as she fell to the floor during a night out in Malibu. The former frenemies turned BFFs were out with the socialite’s sister Nicky when the mishap happened leading to Lindsay grabbing on to Paris’ hand to catch her balance. A laughing Paris gave a disheveled and unsteady Lindsay a hand, after the Mean Girls star lost her footing and ended up on the floor. They met up a Paris’s beach house, then headed to Gladstones restaurant and club, partying until the wee hours of the morning. Paris and Lindsay’s recent reunions over the last few days seem quite unusual considering they’ve had their differences over the years … While Lindsay looked worse for wear, perhaps she was just enjoyed her new found freedom after a month of house arrest and a string of court appearances.

Either these ladies are trying to relive the glory days when they ruled Hollywood as the “It” Girls or they’re just desperately trying to compile what little fame they have left in order to get noticed. I suppose it’s a good, positive thing that Lindsay and Paris have buried the hatchet and have quit their feuding. We’ll have to wait and see if Lindsay will be kind enough in the future should Paris take a stumble and require a helping hand. HMMMM.

At the start of this month we saw video footage of Christian Bale and Anne Hathaway filming scenes for the upcoming sequel film Batman: The Dark Knight Rieses in the UK and a few weeks later, we saw the first signs of life on the Pittsburgh, PA set of the film. This weekend, filming was in FULL swing on the streets of Pittsburgh as many of main Batman actors surfaced on set for duty. Only Tom Hardy, in character as Bane, was dressed in any significant costume … but Christian Bale (Bruce Wayne/Batman), Gary Oldman (Commissioner Gordon) and Marion Cotillard (Miranda Tate) were among the big names on set yesterday.

From the Post Gazette: On 41st Street between Butler and Foster streets, director Christopher Nolan was on-site to oversee the film’s first day of shooting in Pittsburgh. Under his watchful eye, dozens of cargo-short clad staffers converted picturesque row house No. 170 into the home of a Gotham City judge, played by Brett Cullen. Piles of fake snow dotted the sidewalks, and black canvas drapes and heavy-duty screens blotted out the sun to create a dreary winter backdrop. Wind and dust machines were on hand to create a storm, even though Pittsburgh skies threatened their own as the afternoon wore on. Gary Oldman’s police Commissioner Jim Gordon ran up the house’s steps in take after take to alert the judge to dirty dealings and increasing violence in Gotham. Well-meaning Wayne Enterprises board member Miranda Tate, played by Marion Cotillard, came to the judge’s house in a scene with Commissioner Gordon and Detective Jim Blake, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Ms. Cotillard braved the heat in leather boots and a navy wool peacoat, which she quickly shed at the end of the take, while Mr. Gordon-Levitt was lucky enough to film in shirtsleeves.

I’ve yet to see any photos of Joseph Gordon-Levitt on set and another report claims that Anne Hathway (Selina Kyle/Catwoman) was spotted on set in a prison jumpsuit. Man … now that filming has moved here to the US, we are likely to see a LOT of great photos from the set. I would bet good money that it will be a very long time before we get to see Anne in costume as Catwoman … but I’m terribly curious. These first photos are cool … can’t wait to see more.

As if the tragic news of singer Amy Winehouse‘s untimely death at 27 wasn’t sad enough, today we hear that her story gets even more sad. For the past few years, Amy Winehouse — in her supposed bid to clean up her life — has been sneaking off to the island of St. Lucia to get away from the pressures and temptations she faced at home in London, England. In that time, Amy befriended a now 10-year old girl named Dannika Augustine and, apparently, grew to love her very much. It is being reported this weekend that Amy was actually in the process of adopting Dannika before her death. Forgetting for a minute how painfully obvious it was that Amy was clearly NOT ready to be a mother to anyone, this news just adds more tragedy to an already sad story

Amy Winehouse was in the middle of adopting a poor St Lucian girl before she died. The troubled singer had started the process of becoming a mum to 10-year-old Dannika Augustine, who she met on the idyllic Caribbean island. Amy had booked her ticket to visit the schoolgirl next week. The child’s grandmother revealed the singer had already hired lawyers for the adoption, but her plans were cut short by her sudden death last week aged just 27. Pretty Dannika was living in ­poverty with her single mum, who was ­struggling to feed her, when Amy took her under her wing during one of her many stays on the island over the last two years. Devastated Dannika said: “Amy was already my mother. I would call her mum and she would call me her ­daughter. She took care of me and we had fun together. I loved her and she loved me. She was the most amazing person and I was looking forward to living with her here or in London. I cannot believe she is gone. This is the worst thing that ever happened to me.” Amy met Dannika through the girl’s grandmother, Marjorie Lambert, 57, who runs a beach bar, in 2009. She said: “Amy loved Dannika with all her heart. I don’t know why Amy took to Dannika above all the other children on the island, but from the moment they met they were ­inseparable. They would spend all day playing, horse-riding and walking up and down the beach hand-in-hand. Amy used to beg me: ‘I want to adopt Dannika. I want to take her to England.’ She was prepared to move to St Lucia to be her full-time mum. Amy wanted to have a child so bad. If she had not died, there is no doubt she would be here in St Lucia ­completing the adoption process. There is no way she would have done what she did to herself if Dannika was with her.” She said Dannika’s mother, Nadia Germaine, 31, was willing to give her daughter up for adoption because she could not find a job and was ­struggling to bring up her family.

Yes, it would have been a VERY bad idea if Amy had actually gone thru with this adoption and legally took control of his young girl’s life but I’m certain that none of that matters at all to 10 year old Dannika. She was prolly very excited to leave St. Lucia for London but … it just wasn’t meant to be. Maybe it’s for the best, we can never know … but, as I mention above, this just adds another tragic layer to the sad tale of Amy Winehouse‘s death.

The CW presented a sizzle reel at 2011 San Diego Comic-Con last weekend for the upcoming 3rd season of The Vampire Diaries that included footage from previous seasons as well as glimpses of the new season to come. Today we get to see that sizzle reel in full right here on the blog. You MUST watch the clip to the very end … trust me. Oh yeah … I love me some Vampire Diaries and I am really excited for the upcoming season. The addition of the ghost characters looks VERY promising … as does that nekkid scene starring Ian Somerhalder I am SO ready for more VD. Bring it on!
