Popstar Rihanna is the latest celeb to be immortalized in wax by the Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum in our nation’s capital city Washington DC. This new wax effigy of Ri Ri will be on display alongside other waxen luminaries like President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, Madonna, Rosa Parks, The Jonas Brothers and Denzel Washington. Here is our first look at this tribute to Rihanna:

As with all wax statues … this statue could’ve been a disaster. I think they really got it right this time. The only thing that would make this version of Rihanna look like the real Rihanna would be if her hair were bright pink. If you get the forehead right, you get Rihanna right. Madame Tussaud’s really got the forehead right, don’t you think?

Last month we got to see the principal cast of True Blood wearing nothing but blood on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. Today we get to see the ladies and leading man of Mad Men on the cover of the new issue of RS. This time, the coverstars are fully dressed … and mostly fully stacked. Here is the just-released coverphoto along with an excerpt from the coverstory article:

In the opening scene of the new season of Mad Men, an interviewer asks Draper, “Who is Don Draper?” Rather than confess the truth — that he’s a flimflam man who fabricated his whole identity from a dead Korean War officer and built his entire life on a lie en route to a Madison Avenue advertising career — Draper merely takes a drag on his cigarette. “I’m from the Midwest,” he says. “We were taught it’s not polite to talk about yourself.” In a sense, Mad Men is Weiner’s attempt to figure out this question for himself. He has created an elaborate pageant of American fantasies — guys and dolls who look like they have it all, even when their private worlds are complete frauds. The advertising wizards of Mad Men swagger through the office, knock back cocktails, knock back lovers. They live out JFK-era America’s tawdriest dreams, almost as if it’s a professional code — to sell these dreams to America, they have to experience them from the inside, with all their inherent betrayal and manipulation. After three seasons on AMC, a basic-cable network previously known for endless reruns of second-rate movies, Mad Men established a hold on America’s fantasy life like no show since The Sopranos. “The big question the show is trying to answer through Don has to do with identity,” Weiner says. “Who am I? — It’s only the biggest theme in all of Western literature.” To make it happen, Weiner assembled a cast he could relate to — veteran actors who had spent their careers toiling in relative obscurity. Jon Hamm, who plays Draper, had a few scenes in We Were Soldiers. January Jones, who plays his brittle and ethereal ex-wife, Betty, showed up in the third American Pie movie as Stifler’s love interest. Christina Hendricks, who rules the offices of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce as Joan, appeared in a video for the Nineties rock band Everclear. Nobody wanted them. Today, everybody knows their names, everybody covets their careers, everybody wants to get next to them.

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m not a big fan of Mad Men. David loves the show and I watch it with him from time to time but nothing about the show really grabs me. I think it’s a great take on American life in the 50s and the setting details are fantastic but overall … the show bores me. Still, considering that Mad Men walked away with the Emmy Award for Best Drama this past weekend and the fact that it is so prominently featured on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine I think it’s safe to say that the show is well-loved. This will prolly be an issue of RS that I won’t be picking up myself but I’m certain there are quite a few MM fans out there who’ll wanna be sure to pick it up when it hits newsstands this week.

On Sunday we got our first look at newlywedded Miranda Kerr out and bout with her burgeoning Baby Bump and today we get to see her on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Italian Vogue magazine. Miranda‘s photospread appears to have been shot well before she started showing her bump … and is presented in 3D:

Sir Ian McKellen, who recently and very proudly joined the Stonewall Charity‘s Some People Are Gay, Get Over It t-shirt campaign, was on hand in Manchester, England last Saturday to preside as grand marshal of the 20th anniversary of the Manchester Gay Pride Parade … here are a few photos:

Sir Ian McKellen, the Academy Award-nominated star of The Lord of the Rings, served as grand marshal for the Manchester, England, pride parade, which celebrated its 20th anniversary Saturday. According to the BBC, thousands of people watched more than 100 groups and floats participate in the parade despite heavy rains. “Starting on Deansgate, the parade travelled up the city’s main shopping street before snaking through St Anne’s Square, past Albert Square and finishing at the Gay Village,” reported the BBC. McKellen led the procession, which is part of the larger pride festival that raises money for Manchester-area LGBT organizations. He rode in a car introducing him as “Serena McKellan.”

I just love Sir Ian. The man lives his life openly, honestly and with the utmost class and grace. He is truly a man that anyone can aspire to emulate. He is also the kind of role model that young gay and lesbian people can look up to. Not only is the man extremely talented but he also looks like a lot of fun to hang out with. Manchester chose well when they approached Sir Ian McKellen as their pride parade grand marshal. Happy Pride!!

Bravo TV has announced that the premiere season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills will debut on Bravo on Thursday October 14 and today gives us our first look at the cast of what promises to be the most superficial installment of the franchise yet. Say hello to the Real Housewives of 90210:

Ridic! I can’t wait to watch. I think my fave Housewife is the one who carries around her toy dog and has a live in gay male trainer. She looks fun. Camille Grammar, I gotta say, totally grossed me out with her proclamation that she has 4 nannys … on a rotating schedule. The fact that she is “trying to be green” by cutting down on her private jet usage is also disgusting. Will this show be as good as the other installments of the Real Housewives franchise? Perhaps. Will I watch it religiously whether it’s good or not? Yes. And don’t lie, you know YOU will too

Former Iraq war veteran and current Gorilla Juicehead Jeff Miranda, who has been romancing MTV‘s Jersey Shore star Nicole Snooki Polizzi for the past couple of weeks, is featured on the cover of the new issue of Steppin’ Out magazine with a headline that asks for her hand in holy matrimony … behold:

They’ve barely been dating two weeks, but Snooki’s new boyfriend is ready to make a commitment. Iraq veteran Jeff Miranda proposed to the Jersey Shore star in what can only be described as a slightly tacky way on the September cover of Steppin’ Out Magazine. He poses down on one knee on the cover asking ‘Will you marry me?’ In the article, Miranda talks about his love for the Snooki – real name Nicole Polizzi – and his desire to share a future with her. ‘I want us to be together forever,’ he says. ‘I could see us having children. I want to pop the question to her. If we got married we would be the best parents around. She’s so loving and puts everyone else before herself. She’ll be a great mother.’ And Miranda is sure that Snooki will agree to spend the rest of her life with him. ‘I think Nicole will be shocked by this cover story and the fact that I’m asking her to marry me on the cover. ‘But once she deals with the shock I think they’ll say yes. I really do. In fact, I know she’ll say yes. And Miranda insists he loves Snooki for who she is, rather than her fame. ‘People think I’m using her for fame. But that’s bullshit. They’re just haters. I didn’t ask for camera’s in my face. It came with the territory.

LMAOOOO! I cannot think of a more perfect way for Snooki to enter the bounds of holy matrimony. We know that she’s been lookin’ for a Gorilla Juicehead and now she’s found one … or two, since she was just spotted making out with some other dude just a few days ago. Irregardless, if Snooki is ever gonna get hitched … I think this is the perfect way for her to do so. Mazel tov!

The always fabulous Tim Gunn will be bringing his keen fashion sense know-how to the upcoming 4th season of Gossip Girl which will return to the CW in just a few short weeks will all new eps. Here are a couple photos of Tim on the GG set yesterday afternoon:

While I’m fairly certain that they will make Tim deliver at least one of his famous catchphrases, I hope they let him expand his “character” a bit … I love me some Tim just the way he is but I wouldn’t mind seeing a different side of the man … perhaps a bitchy side … a side prone to slapping people across the face for their heinous fashion choices? Meh. I can dream, can’t I? I’m really excited for new eps of GG … I can’t wait to see Tim Gunn on the show.

Back in April we got to see some behind the scenes video from the set of the new film Burlesque, which will be Christina Aguilera‘s feature film debut. In July we got our first look at the first official promo images released for the film. Today we get to check out the just released first movie poster for Burlesque, which will hit theaters this Thanksgiving:

One diva makes her overdue return to movies. The other makes her film acting debut. So who’s excited about Burlesque, the hot new musical that brings together Cher and Christina for a sparkly, glamorous and wild Fosse-esque song and dance spectacular? I left off the latter’s last name (Aguilera) because so does the film’s poster, which we’re happy to debut down below. It’s full of hot pink and what I think is a lightbulb-adorned — though it could also be rhinestone-studded — title vertically separating the legend on the left from the newer star on the right. The film’s tagline acknowledges the distinction between divas, too: Cher’s side says “It takes a legend,” which continues on Christina’s side, “… to make a star.” Kind of meta. In Burlesque, Aguilera is a small-town girl trying to make it big on the stage of Cher’s L.A. club, The Burlesque Lounge, but first she has to put in her due as a cocktail waitress. The musical also features Stanley Tucci, Alan Cumming, Kristen Bell, Eric Dane, Cam Gigandet and Dancing with the Stars winner Julianne Hough. It was written and directed by Steve Antin … As the poster says, it opens this Thanksgiving.

HMMM. I’m worried, y’all. I know with Cher in the film Burlesque has a bit more cache but … I’m thinkin’ this movie is going to tank at the box office. Considering how insignificant Xtina‘s latest album was/is I’m guessing that same uninterested malaise will infect her performance at the box office as well. Unless Cher‘s fanbase can bring in the audience AND Xtina is actually good in the film, my prediction is that Burlesque may bomb at the box office. If it does not open strong, it will completely disappear. Of course, this is all purely guesswork on my part but I’m still so shocked by how nonexistent Xtina‘s new album was/is … I fear if she can’t carry her weight in the music biz (where her strengths lie) then she doesn’t really have much of a chance to carry her weight in the movie biz. What do y’all think … will you see Burlesque when it opens this November?
